Buckwheat

Buckweat is a kind of cereal grain. Oh my gawd! You believed me. I don't blame you. That's what I used to think too. Buckwheat is actually an herb. People assume that it's a grain because of it's name and the fact that it's used to make flour. Buckwheat isn't even related to true wheat which is a grass. It's the triangular seeds from a weed-like plant related to rhubarb.

With its robust, nutty flavor, buckwheat flour can be used in pancakes and other baked goods. Buckwheat is an excellent source of protien (it has more protein than soy beans) and dietary fiber.

Alternative Definition:
William Thomas, Jr. (b. 1931 d. 1980) - an African-American child actor best remembered for portraying the character of Buckwheat in the Our Gang (Little Rascals) short films from 1934 to 1944.
