Gluten Free Hot Cereal Blend

  • 1 cup of water*
  • 1 Tablespoon cream of rice cereal
  • 4 teaspoons cornmeal
  • 5 teaspoons buckwheat porridge
  • 1 teaspoon ground flax seed
Combine all ingredients in large microwave-safe bowl and stir. Microwave on medium-high for 3 to 4 minutes, stirring after the first minute then every 30 seconds. Let stand 1 minute to thicken. Sweeten as desired with honey, rice syrup, molasses or your favorite jam.

*For a creamier texture, use 1/2 cup of water and 1/2 cup of milk or milk substitute.

A microwave hot cereal recipe. Serve and top as you might oatmeal or cream of wheat, but feel better about it because you get flax and multi grain nutrition.

I like it with maple syrup as well. Also some fruit, like berries, or even lemon curd. Yum!

Hi, what is buckwheat porridge? Is that the same as buckwheat groats?
