Shang Chai is by far the best kosher chinese restaurant in all of New York. The egg rolls and sesame chicken are not to be missed, and the service is superb.

Have been eating at the Shang for 24 years... The food is consistently fresh, never greasy and the service is quick and good. I recommend the Wor Hip, pan fried dumplings, sesame chicken and egg rolls. The first visit is certain not to be the last.

Compared to a top rated non kosher chinese resturaunt they would only be very good, but compared to other kosher chinese resterauraunt they are elite. Also they are one of the few chinese resteraunts in NYC that has passed the board of health inspections with flying colors.

On the whole, this place is overrated. The atmosphere is nice and has a tendency to elegance. The food, however, is not the greatest. It is served quickly--but for the price one would expect a tastier cuisine.
