We had to stand in line for 45 minutes on a Thursday morning and it was 90 degrees outside! The pancakes were actually pretty good and I elected to have raspberry on top of mine. The poor waitress was rushing like crazy because she had my table and several more. I think they could streamline the restaurant if they just added a few more waitresses because it took forever to get my check! I will go back again, but will try to figure out a less congested time. My wife always says, "If the restaurant doesn't have a line, it's probably not very good!"

Pancake Pantry in Gatlinburg is great. I love the Lemon Apricot Pancakes and my husband's and son's favorite is the French Toast. Our family has enjoyed their food for 40 years and we always had good service. It is worth the wait.

Okay, I have been to both the Pantry in Nashville and the one in Gatlinburg.... the food is amazing. Nashville's is definitely a bit stiffer when it comes to turning tables and keeping everyone in line, but they are a bit faster than Gatlinburg too. Either way, best pancakes in the world!!!
Surprisingly, the potatoes there are by far the best I have ever had, I could almost just go and eat potatoes!!!!! If you have not been I recommend it highly, it is tooo good to miss. Going early or at an off time is best. They stunk at refilling my coffee in Nashville, Gatlinburg has always been good in that department. Don't miss it!

You can NOT go to Gatlinburg and not stop at the Pancake Pantry (i always want to call it the pancake factory...haha). There is NO way in the world I would make a trip to G-burg and not eat here....it is on our list of "to do's" everytime we head up here in the winter. This place is awesome. I cant get myself to ever order anything other than the unbelievable french toast...best you've ever eaten. Comes with creamy cinnamon butter and syrup that is to die for. It is a large portion so I usually order meat/eggs and split the toast with another person. If you go on Saturday, you better get there when we do...at like 6-630 am! Set your alarm clock early for this one b/c you will be dissapointed to get there and have to wait in line, b/c the lines are LONG. Service is short and to the point. ok, im making myself really hungry now...i gotta go. p.s. i read online that there is another one in Nashville...hmmmm that makes me excited...ill have to check it out.

The food here is simple. I had the Eggs and Ham (2 eggs (at least), ham and pancakes). Very good food, very good value, and very filling. If you need more food for your money, make some lifestyle changes or make the food yourself.

These haters are probably competition. Pantry makes the best cakes and french toast, not the best eggs; but hey the name isn't "Egg Pantry". Cakes and toast are best here, hands down (from a student who lives blocks away) if you are not familiar with nashville trust me. Pantry makes a huge range of delicious cakes

OVERPRICED, POOR SERVICE and LONG WAITS. Yes I had read the reviews but it sounded like it was worth the wait....What we found was much worse. You are herded around by the doors like cattle at a auction. People are constantly "scolded" for not remaining in a single line and standing right where you have been told to stand. I will agree the food wasn't bad but certainly not worth the prices. Four small pancakes $9.00, a meal for four will set you back $50 easy. We had to ask our server for refills on coffee and water several time before she could remember to come back with the drinks. Eating at the Pancake Pantry is like eating in a military dining hall. March in, sit down, shut up, empty your wallet and get out.

My husband and I live in Nashville and always wanted to go but no opportunity until a couple of weeks ago. We told the server it was our 1st time and what we should order? She immediately said the sweet potato pancakes with the warm cinnamon sugar with butter syrup, so I ordered them. Let me tell you, it was worth all the waiting in line!! I have never had a better stack of pancakes. Now, how can you put a price on that value?? Go!! Wait in line, it doesn't matter, it is worth every penny and you will be full.

Went there twice in the last week while on vacation. I had never heard of cinnamon cream syrup for pancakes, but it was very good. It was busy both days, but it didn't take too long to get inside. Dierks Bentley was there the first time and a lady from the Grand Ole Opry was there the second time. Once they take your order the food is out very quickly, no matter how busy it seems. I would go there again in a heartbeat if I didn't live way over here in California.

We were visiting friends in Nashville and they took us to this awesome place for a meal. That was two years ago and I'm still talking about it! The food was magnifico and the syrup is to die for. We've planned a return trip and the one priority we have is to meet our friends at the Pancake Pantry again! My mouth is watering just thinking about it. We had a sweet, helpful waitress that had been there for years. She was a gem. Trust me, however long the line is - it is worth the wait!

Just went there for the first time and ordered cinnamon pancakes. They just were not to my liking but the waitress quickly brought me some plain buttermilk which were delicious. My husbands food, was fabulous too. Service was quick, no line when we went in about 11 a.m. and waitress was no nonsense but polite. We left a good tip because she was so accommodating. If we ever go to Nashville again, we'd go back for sure. We're from New Orleans so we measure every restaurant against a pretty high bar. They were very good.

My family has been eating at the "Pantry for 28 years and we love it. The service is great, waitresses are friendly and efficient. Love the food--pancakes and waffles are devine with cinnamon-apple syrup! I find it hard to resist the fried potatoes. Don't pass up a chance for lunch that's just as good. I took my brother from Michigan and Joyce treated him like a king. This place is tops!

There's really not much more I can add here. This place has, hands down, the best pancakes I've ever eaten. They're always perfectly golden brown and they seem to just melt in your mouth, which is a rare quality in a breakfast product. The side items (eggs, sausage, etc.) are pretty darn good, too.
As others have noted, if you want a place where you can come in, sit down, eat a nice, leisurely breakfast, chat with your waitress, read your paper, drink your coffe, and so forth, this probably ain't the place to do it. The waitresses are polite, but they aren't chatty, and they're not going to stand around and wait for you to make up your mind on which of the many delicious varieties of pancakes you'd like to eat. They are best described as efficient. They want you in and out and on your way.
Want to know why? Look out the window: the line's going to be stretching down the block if you're there any time before noon. And contrary to what some have said, this isn't the kind of place that you only take your out-of-state friends. I've been in Nashville for six years now, and I eat at the Pantry as often as I can. The food is consistently top-notch, and all for a reasonable price. Most definitely worth a visit if you're ever in Nashvegas.

I love the Pancake Pantry. Yes, the lines are long, but if you eat there around 10 a.m. during the week, or after Noon on any day, you can usually walk right in. The line moves pretty fast, though.
I love the Sugar & Spice Pancakes, the Chocolate Chip Pancakes, the hashbrowns, and the OMELETTES! I know they're known for pancakes, but trust me their omelettes are amazing.
The service is hit or miss - it's not necessarily polite but it's usually fast and gets the job done.
I think the prices are very reasonable - the portions are big and if you're cheap and eat light, you can always order a half order of pancakes.
I highly recommend it, but don't wait in the Saturday or Sunday morning lines!

Incredible Breakfast. I usually eat there several times when I am in town. Service is always good the 50 or so times I have been there.
Weekends the lines are somewhat long. Go mondays through wednesdays, no long lines, and on many ocassions some familiar faces in the music industry may also be dining there.

I can't beleive anyone likes this place, much less would stand in line for it. I live in Nashville, and the Pancake Pantry is widely regarded as someplace you only go if you must take out of towners someplace for breakfast. IHOP blows the Pantry away as far as food goes. The service is absolutely terrible. I have been plainly ignored by Pantry waitresses on numerous occasions. The food is o.k., if you are in the mood to pay twice what it should cost. Still, people stand in line for mediocre food, bad service, and outrageous prices. If you are in town, do yourself a favor and walk across the street to Provence for a light breakfast and good coffee.

It's my favorite breakfast spot when I'm willing to wait. The line by itself should tell you how good the breakfast is. People are just dying to get in. I take all my vistors from other states there for breakfast. Everyone falls in love with what I call the Cinnamon/Butter Syrup. I really don't know what's in that stuff but it's great. I like their french toast. I also love their sausage patties and bacon. My daughter likes their bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich, and our brother in christ likes their omelets. The service is fantastic and fast. Overall, you can't give the Pancake Pantry anything but an excellent rating.

This is my all-time favorite place to eat in Nashville, and for those of you who eat there often, you know it is a city of great food! I've moved away, but I am there every time I go back to visit family. The portions are huge, the prices reasonable, and the wait staff is really friendly, even if they are sometimes really, really hurried. Try the Sweet Potato pancakes with maple cream-- THE BEST!

This is our second trip to this restaurant. I might not have tried it if I read some of these reviews first. We had delicious food and excellent service both times. During the week it was probably more enjoyable because it was less crowded. On the weekend visit, we did have to wait a long time. We enjoyed the mix of people eating there. Our family congregates in Nashville from Atlanta and Carbondale IL. We all agree we will return next time we are there.

Pancake Pantry is a Nashville institution. I ate there the other day and saw Vanderbilt college students, Octogenerian friends of my parents, waitresses that have become friends over the years, music industry executives, and Amy Grant and Vince Gill and 2 of their kids.... on weekends, be prepared to get there by 6:00 am or stand in line. It could take an hour, but at least there's hot coffee and newspapers, and the atmosphere is always friendly. It's worth the wait because these are the BEST pancakes you've ever had. The freshest ingredients -- real butter, maple syrup, whipped eggwhites that make the cakes fluffy, not heavy. My favorite is the sweet potato pancakes with cinnamon cream syrup. But if you're really hungry for meat and eggs, go for the grill cooks medly -- perfectly fried potatoes with onions and peppers and the works, topped with fried eggs. You can't go wrong, whatever you order.

A really excellent ham and cheese omelet, the homefries were awesome and cheap, and the spouse thought the patato pancakes were ok. I can sum up the double-p with 6 words --
Chocolate Chip Pancakes With Cinnamon Syrup.
Mmm mmm good!
The fresh orange juice was great.
My friend said her omelette was real good.
We had great service, but my relatives told
us that we were lucky and its a crapshoot
whether or not they're gonna be rude.
They also said to only go on the weekdays.
I guess it gets overly crowded on weekends.
I'll go back when I'm in town.
