Are the lines to get in ridiculously long? Yes. Are the portions ridiculously large? Yes. It is worth it? Oh, yes. Hash House's signature hashes are, not surprisingly, the star attractions on the menu. Meats such as tender roasted pork tenderloin, corned beef and homemade meatloaf are cooked with crispy potatoes and eggs and served with fresh fruit and a mouth-watering house-made biscuit. Giant flapjacks and king-sized Texas French toast are also winners.

The portions are pretty big and the wait is long if you're going during peak times but the food is good... the homemade jelly is great!

This place is really, really popular, and it shouldn't be. Everything about this place is nice, except the food. The food is terrible! I'm a chef, and find sticking big rosemary branches on every plate of your food to be poor form -- but it's not just my professional bias, either. The last time we went I got the simplest thing I could -- eggs, bacon, potatoes -- and for some reason it had teriyaki (or something) squirted all over it, with minced bell pepper. And burnt-tasting teriyaki at that! It's one thing to use a bunch of tacky garnishes, but to use them to the point that they can ruin the food.

That is if the basics were any good in the first place. Under all that rosemary and teriyaki sauce, the food itself is mediocre AT BEST. The first time we went there I had the pulled pork. I had a few bites, and pushed my plate away -- it was soo nasty! And I'm no food snob, either -- I like Hooters and Taco Bell just fine, in their place. This stuff is just plain BAD.

It seems we go back here once a year or so, as somebody (even chef friend's wives) tell us how much they love the place, and every time the food is deplorable.

It is so seldom you find a restaurant that features a really different menu. This one includes breakfast scramble with meatloaf. The service was excellent and the food was not only good but presented beautifully. If you're not a big eater I would suggest splitting a dish. We will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Portions are huge but not everything is tasty. The biscuits are good, but not the french toast, any they brought me the wrong order. Granola pancake was gross. Service was really slow and not friendly.

I'm a huge breakfast lover and a Californian who has lived from San Diego to Sacramento and most cities in between, and I'd have to pick this place as my favorite place to have breakfast in the state! The menu is creative and catchy (where else can you order Captain Crunch flapjacks or a 24. oz Budweiser with a side of bacon?!?!). The food is delicious (I ordered a salmon, pesto, and brie scramble last time). My stomach is starting to grumble just thinking about my last meal there! The serving sizes are GIGANTIC -- far and away the largest breakfasts I've ever seen served. I second the reviewer who advised getting there early (they open @ 7:30), or else be prepared to wait a couple hours...

I had the best breakfast I have ever had here. The pancakes are huge and the corned beef hash is to die for!

This place is amazing, so amazing in fact you may find yourself waiting a couple hours to get in. It gets super packed on the weekends so either get there early or bring a book or some patient company. Definitly worth the wait.
