I used to work there so I'm in a pretty good position to know that R Waffle kicks some breakfast butt. Ron can get those breakfast orders out faster than the waitresses can deliver them and Ray Jr, Randy, and Ryan were really cool people to work for.

Another big plus is they use real potatoes for their homefries and mashed potatoes. Virtually every other restaurant in town uses pre-processed potatoes for their hash browns and home fries, and only two other places in town that i can think of, Granny's and Cracker Barrel have real mashed potatoes.

Hey, I dunno about the abusive cook, he didn't say a word when I was in, but the waffles we had were excellent, and I got plenty of fresh, hot coffee. I've already recommended R Waffle King to a couple of friends who were traveling to Altoona. Plenty of waffles to choose from, my mom's buckwheat waffles were mighty filling.

Breakfast is OK most of the time BUT the cook is abusive toward the waitresses, and at times to customers. Homefries are dried out and tough most of the time, and sometimes the sausage patties look like they've been sitting out to long. They do have the best bacon of any restaurant in town though. The coffee is good when it's fresh, which isn't very often, but getting a refill is like pulling teeth. The waitresses are friendly and pleasant, and they must have nerves of steel to put up with the verbal abuse from the cook. I eat there a few times a week, because it's near to where I work, it's cheap, they have a smoking section, and the only other alternative in the downtown area is Tom and Joe's which makes Waffle King seem like a culinary delight.
