Excellent food. Excellent service. If you go at peak times, you may have to wait a bit. Very kid friendly. Very anybody friendly. Good fresh food. Large portions - so watch out! Nice urban cafe.

The food is good, but the service is very poor. This is a great place to catch up with a friend because you will be waiting a while to place your order and be plated.

My wife and I met a couple of friends here for lunch and it was terrific! We got the Bismark, covered in Maine blueberries, dripping in goodness...and washed it down with a Yingling. Mmm-mmm. The Golden West has a Bohemian atmosphere yet is still unaffected. Maybe it was a good day, but our waitress was cheery and funny. I liked the retro record-cover menus, mine was Earl Scruggs, my friend's was Music to Make You Misty. Great place!

This place is great! This funky little restaurant serves breakfast all day and also serves lunch. When were there the day after Thanksgiving, they were only serving breakfast. The portions were decent; one could actually finish the plate and feel comfortably full. At the same time, I didn't feel cheated. The serve was attentive and chatty, in character with the colorful decorations and artsy feel of the interior.

The pancakes were great: served with plenty of butter and real maple syrup. Not too fluffy but not too heavy. The bacon and eggs were not greasy and fatty. The fruit was fresh.

The full bar in the back means that you can get mimosas at breakfast if that is your style. Or beer, if that's your style for breakfast, too.

We went to this restaurant based on reviews from this website and were very pleased.

No wait if you go before 9 a.m. Rough decor, but funky, hippy, new age, grunge. I suspect the servers are all vegetarians and resent having to deliver meat products to the table. I don't care 'cause the eats are great! I had some sort of Mexican-based dish that was fabulous! My spouse had a concoction drippin' with gobs of whipped cream and bananas; a syrup-French toast-type extravaganza - way toooo rich. My favorite place in Baltimore for brekkies - and breakfast is my favorite meal. Quite a compliment from a cranky wretch like me!

The wait times are practically null unless you show up at 11:30 on Sunday. But you'll be waiting no matter where you go at that time (except The Avenue Diner). They have a current special- Monday Nights Half Price Burgers and Beer. Friggin' terrific!

Golden West has just moved into a new, larger space down the street from their original location, but their special "Golden West" blend of Key coffee is as addictive as ever. Breakfast, served all day, includes pancakes, French toast and omelettes, as well as an extremely hearty chorizo burrito bursting with spicy sausage, potatoes, cheeses and egg. Their huevos rancheros are awesome.

I haven't actually been there at breakfast time since they've moved, only for dinner, so I don't know if the wait times are as long as they were when they only had about six or seven tables...
