Wow. This place is hard to get into on weekends (They give you a pager! But, at least there are some fun shops nearby.) but well worth the wait. Quick, friendly, sometime frenzied service but the absolute best french toast I've ever had. Atmosphere is casual but nice. Great place to impress out of town visitors!

I have been going to the Cadillac Cafe for many years . Pick any Breakfast on the menu and it will arrive fresh, hot and meticulously prepared.
Great Coffee and my cup never gets more than half way without a server coming by to refill it.
Service is always on top of every move.
I would have to say this place is probably one of the most pristine places I have been-Overall I would give all the above at any time a 5 out of 5.
The owners are great people and obviously know what they are doing.
If you have not tried it--you must!!

Yeah, I ate at this place. Pretty Good. I'll go back. They try hard and it shows. I don't know if Cadillac Cafe is a chain or not, but whenever I see one I try it. There's one in Milano, Italy, another in Baton Rouge Louisiana, also, West Hollywood Ca. and Mactan Island, Cebu Philippines. I travel a lot, and have found all these places to be delightful and delicious. Check out the one in the philippines. www.cadillac-cafe.com. A tip of my hat to the fine folks in Portland.

This is one of the best restaurants I've ever eaten in! First of all, the decor is georgeous and the details are meticulous! There is a real pink cadilac in the back, which is detailed and looking good. There is an atrium with beautiful green plants and a fireplace. It kind of makes you feel like you are eating outside minus the rain. Then notice every little detail from the fresh flowers to the old-fashioned phone in the back; the kind where you have to pick up the receiver and lean down to talk into the horn-like mouthpiece and then you dial rotary style. These people put ambiance in the dictionary.
If aesthetics aren't your game, then close your eyes and order anything on the menu. I heard that some of the staff gets to the restaurant at about 4 am, to prepare the food FRESH every day. How many restaurants prepare fresh food every day? I think a lot of them have big freezers in the back, if you know what I mean. The specialty is Hazelnut French Toast and if you haven't tried it yet, you haven't had French Toast. It melts in your mouth.
The helpings are super generous and the staff is supurb. They are quick to bring you your food, even though it's a full service place and fresh food. The food is hot, plentiful, delicious and well worth any line you might have to wait in outside. Try meeting your neighbor or talking with your friends and family while you wait, you know, that thing we used to do called "communication". You might get to know each other and have a laugh or two along the way.
Want great food and great atmosphere? This is the place to be! Great job, Cadillac!

I LOVE it here! The "Bunkhouse" is a MUST. Order this with an extra peice of french toast and you can feed two people for about $10! Everyone needs to taste the hazlenut french toast at least once before they die. If you sit at the bar, seating is fast and they give you little samples of smoothies and milkshakes when there's leftovers. I always think it's worth the wait to eat here...(haven't had the pancakes yet, though)

We've been "doing breakfast" at the Cadillac Cafe since the late 80's on a pretty regular basis. The food is always good, the coffee is WONDERFUL, and the service is outstanding.

Very Pleasant Atmosphere, Always busy with wait staff fluttering around. Beautiful fresh flowers and very Eye Appealing Food. The "Custard Hazelnut French Toast" is the BEST in the NorthWest, always a hit!!!
Service is relaxed and the crowd chatty.. The Management is watchful and appreciative. Seating can be a little tight

Today was my 2nd visit. Both visits have been for lunch and both times the place was packed with people standing in line outside. (A good sign!)
Both times the food and service were great. Definitely not a fast food place due to the crowds, but the staff seem to keep their "cool" under pressure.
The sandwiches will feed two, so if you go, split one. They will give you an extra plate at no charge.
Also, if you don't want to wait in line, try asking for a seat (or two) at the counter. You can get seated right away and get free entertainment while watching the bartenders make exotic drinks.
Definitely a place you'd want to not take small, fussy children though! Dining spaces are close together and the noise level is quite high. We saw someone with a small baby there today. What were they thinking?! The noise level could not possibly be good for the child.

The omelettes here are fabulous! You can order them with as few as one egg and up to three eggs. (The one egg omelettes come out looking pretty cute!) Their pancakes are also fabulous, but only order a short stack if you're not very hungry, these pancakes are huge!

I'm gnerally not much of a breakfast eater, but the Cadillac Cafe is awesome. This not-a-french-toast eater actually craves CC's Custard French Toast. Excellent fried potatoes and chicken sausage. My eggs have been cooked to perfection everytime. I've enjoyed every menu item I've ordered.
Also open for lunch...again, I've had something different each time, and it's been excellent each time.
They tend to be busy....but get there before 9:30 or 10am on a Saturday and you shouldn't have to wait.
Downside: I don't feel comfortable rolling out of bed and throwing on sweats--the atmosphere is quite a bit nicer than the typical breakfast joint. And although you always see a fair number of kids and families, there is no kid's menu (but you can order ala carte.)

I'm new to Portland so I've been scouting for a good breakfast spot. This place is pretty good. Best breakfast I've had so far. A bit fancy for me, atmosphere-wise but the staff was friendly and professional. I had the Ninth St. omelette which was great. They do serve french roast coffee, which is not my favorite, but the food made up for it.

If you haven't done it and love searching for good breakfast spots you need to. Lines are long on weekends so get there early or expect a wait. Breakfast specials always changing and worth a try. Good traditional, Bunkhouse Vittles.
