Very inconsistent food. Service sucked too. Poorly managed. Not a lot to say that is good about this location. I have been there at least 3 times and it really does not change!

Very good value -- consistantly delicious! The staff is always pleasant. No problem with refills. Sit at a window. Free newspaper. Ample parking.

Norm's has gotten better over the years, despite hordes of homeless people polluting the area. Manager Rod Castillo runs a tight ship, and things function well. Pleasant wait staff from all over the world is usually very attentive.

They're a little short when students come to study too long, but the prices are reasonable, and everything tastes better than the dull fare served across the street at Lenny's.

Look for good deals on NY Steak & Eggs. The steaks are better than those you get in Vegas, and if you're watching your waistline, you can split one meal for two people.

I had the Belgian Waffle with Strawberry Topping with a side of hashbrowns. I sat at the counter.

My waiter was a nice enough guy. However, he could have been a little more focused on the status of my coffee cup.

The hashbrowns were done nicely -- crispy edges, top and bottom. As for the waffle -- it was nothing special. The strawberrys weren't particularly fresh and the sauce surrounding them didn't have the thick doughnut-filling consistancy that I associate with better fruit toppings.

What is the Santa Monica Norms good for? In my opinion, it's a fine place for a 3 AM breakfast when you're a little tight. For other times -- when breakfast is the event, and not the end-attachment to another event, there are many better places in Santa Monica and nearby Venice.
