Little Pete's, in center city at 219 South 17th Street (a short walk from the 19th or 15th street trolley stops), delights diners 24/7 with their delicious menu of any food one could possibly crave.

When we walked up to the small diner, I immediately expected to be waiting for a while, since it was breakfast time on a Saturday, but to my surprise we were seated at once by a friendly, very motherly, waitress.

The decor of Little Pete's is that of your typical diner, booths all around the walls of the place with an unusual oval shaped counter off to one side, crowded with patrons, enjoying whatever they may have been in the mood for that morning. Unusually though, scattered around the floor are gold colored lucky horseshoes and stars implanted in the tiling, that added a cute touch to the diner.

Once we were seated, within a couple minutes, water and plenty of strong coffee (a must to be a good diner in my opinion) were on the table and a friendly waitress came by, calling us "hun" and making everyone (I was joined by two friends) at the table feel like mom was serving us breakfast.

The menu was vast, everything from pancakes and omelets to various sandwiches, and even steak, are listed on the three page menu. Although, it seems a bit lengthy, the menu is not overwhelming in the least.

Since we could all practically eat a horse, an appetizer of the special jalapeno cheddar poppers (five for about six dollars) was agreed upon to oddly complement our breakfast.

The poppers came out of the kitchen with a side of marinara, what I thought of as an unusual dipping sauce for jalapeno poppers but soon learned was delicious. They were breaded and deep fried and came out of the kitchen as deliciously crispy packages of molten cheddar cheese and perfectly spicy pepper. The jalapeno inside was not over cooked at all, it still maintained its integrity, while being tender enough to be bitten through without much effort.

For breakfast, I enjoyed the Spanish omelets (for a mere $6.40) that came with a side of hash browns. The omelets was one of the biggest I've ever seen (measuring about ten inches long and about four inches wide) and was smothered in a homemade salsa, which seemed like a crossbreed of marinara sauce and salsa, with chunky stewed tomatoes, peppers, and onions and a mild spiciness. The delectable salsa complemented the eggs wonderfully. I almost could have eaten a bowl of the savory, flavorful, salsa by itself!

My companions both had two eggs, any style, with hash browns and toast for only $3.50! Both the scrambled and over medium eggs came out to their liking, the over medium eggs not too runny, but just enough flowing yolk in which to dip toast.

Needless to say, for a total of $27.97 for three diners to leave absolutely stuffed, Little Pete's satisfies empty stomachs as well as close to empty wallets. Anyone can walk in and feel as if they are being taken care of by their mother and enjoy themselves in a cozy environment.
