The only other post for a review was a post by the restaurant. How egotistical!

Growing up in this town I've known many people to work at this place. And I hear a lot of horror stories.

The cooks are anything but professional for the price of the food. The owner is a drunkard and a cheat. If he hadn't known the freemasons in this town the restaurant would have gone bankrupt years ago.

The middle level is a nice place to look around in. The yard/pond area is so-so(nothing of interest) I've never been to the basement nor the upstairs. The upstairs has been remodeled recently(<30 years ago). It -was- a hospital of old. They had to rip up the blood stained floors.

There is an addition of a bankwet. less than 20 years old.

A former employee told me they deliberately recycle food (even if it has mold) back out to the public. he said he was told to mix in the mold with the food and reheat it to kill the mold.

Overall, if you want to look at the old house, by all means walk around and take pictures. But no need to stay for the food.

We invite you to come and experience a home that was built in 1891 as the Scott Boarding House. Part of history still exists with the home being part of the once world famous Keeley Institute, a worldwide treatment center for drug and alcohol abuse from the 1920's to the late 1960's.

Take pleasure in our beautiful handcrafted oak and maple woodwork, original fireplaces in our lounge area, and antiques while you enjoy lunch or dinner. Although the building has been changed somewhat throughout the years, the main structure still remains the same. When the Oughton family purchased the boarding house in 1895, it was remodeled to include the woodwork that is still present today. One photo dates back to the late 1890's of the Scott Boarding House and another features a 1910 photo of the original Ohlendorf Bakery. This page contains 10 photographs showing the transformation of the Mansion, and the Ohlendorf Bakery. However, it takes a few minutes to load!

This is a collection of photos and post cards that depicts the history of the Country Mansion and the Ohlendorf Bakery. You can see the structural changes that the original Scott building has undergone throughout the years. We are sorry to say that we do not have a photo of the original face of the East St. location of the bakery. It has seen many changes throughout the years from its original location on West Main.
