Meli's has the best breakfast food I have had in Chicagoland. I live in Naperville which has some really good breakfast spots, but Meli's tops them all. I've eaten there twice and have had the banana pecan waffles one visit, and baked oatmeal the next. Both were extremely tasty with decent sized portions. I had a surprise with the waffles when I asked for more maple syrup and was told that it would cost $0.90. When I looked surprised the waitress told me that it was very high-grade. It was good, so I paid. But something felt wrong about paying for extra syrup. The oatmeal was loaded with bananas and raisins and was the best that I've had. This place is special.

Love the food at Meli. The chef is a genius, takes average ingredients and combines them into mouth watering creations...

I just finished breakfast on this cold and snowy chicago day, at Meli Cafe in greektown, and it was great. I had the chef's "sinful delight" with a warm cup of apple cider. I also took some soup to go, as the waitress informed me that Meli serves some of the best soups around, so naturally i had to find out for myself. All in all the atmosphere is very homely. This place is a great find for those of us looking for great food and warm environment. And for those expecting an old chef, in a greek owned restaurant, you would be surprised to know that the waitress informed me that the chef is a young man who is professionally trained and full of new twists and turns on menu ideas. "Every day is something new and exciting" she claimed. So i can not wait to try more of the chefs new ideas. See you all at MELI CAFE....

Meli cafe recently opened up, and I must say it is a breath of fresh air in downtown chicago. They serve enormous portions, everything is made in house, such as their marmalades, compound butters, pancakes, waffles, fruit compotes, and even their whip cream. The food is FANTASTIC, i go about three times a week for their crepes and frittatas. My favorite is their "Cloud 9" crepe. You would be surprised to know that they have a professionaly trained chef who creates all these masterpieces. Our plates look like works of art, with color contrast and aroma. Meli also has fresh squeezed juices and smoothies, not to mention the best cup of coffee i have ever had. For those of you looking for great breakfast at an unbelievable price, take a trip down to Halsted and Jackson and visit Meli Cafe & Juice Bar.....I know i will be there.
