Unfortunately, the family running this restaurant decided to close down the dining room and convert to a take out window operation. No more breakfast, no more pies, no home baked breads, no muffins, etc. In short, what was the best meal in the county is now one of the most disappointing. I hate to say it, but you're better off heading into Machias and eating at The Bluebird (better than Helen's).

If you're looking for good food, fair prices, no pretenses, and the best baked good around, this is the place. Check out the lemon meringue, as well as the myriad of other pies, muffins, homemade donuts, and bread. The corned beef hash is the best around. Open for three meals a day, but closes around 8:00 pm. This restaurant beats the more popular ones just up the road in Machias - the others get the publicity, but they don't come close on straight forward meals, service, and prices.
