I used to live in a nearby neighborhood (early-late college years) and Benny's became a staple for us. It is not gourmet. It is somewhat greasy. But it is delicious. Friends and I always gravitated toward omelettes or combo meals w/ eggs, toast, etc. Standard diner food which was heaven sent when hungover. Don't let my tales of formerly drunk college kids stop you - we were in the minority of patrons and people in that position often get carry out anyway. The atmosphere is very comfortable and family-friendly. The waitresses are great. I like that if you wanted to, you could absolutely show up disheveled and still in pajamas and no one would look twice at you (not so much at the more fashionable Angelo's or Zingerman's). So if you're looking for a welcoming and comfy atmosphere and no-frills diner food, this is your place.

Serves breakfast all day. Service is great. Benny even helped change a flat tire I discovered after lunch! Very good omelettes, egg beaters available, and keep an eye on the specials!

Wonderfully convenient for U-M sporting events. Some may argue it was better as Abe's A2 location, but the food and service are great.
