I don't know what the terrible ratings for this place are about. This is a casual hipster type place. The wait staff is fine as far as I've ever known. Sure, they don't stand tableside with a serviette draped over their forearm to dab diners' chins. Good. If you want some good home made and seemingly locally supplied food that doesn't taste like cardboard like most/nearly every other "homestyle" "suthan" types of diners/dives in Dallas then I'd recommend this place. It has a nice vibe, casual fun atmosphere. Interesting menu tweaks - and I really like their use of random, I would guess thrift store, coffee cups.
Once Deep Ellum really gets back into the swing of things I bet this place will be packed all hours.

Had a great breakfast today, served by a cute waitress with a big smile. Had the #1 with perfectly cooked fried eggs, nice potatoes and crisy bacon. Unexpected a slice of watermelon was served on the side. Coffee was great and flowed freely.

Great music played and it was appropriate for the early morning hour. It seems to be a favorite of the Dallas Sheriff's office as several of them were there enjoying their meal. I look forward to my next visit.

Thought I'd give this place a try today since I like to go out for Breakfast on Sundays. The climate at this restaurant is very warm, not the least bit comfortable. Although I was a solo patron, they could have placed me at a location less cramped between a group table and a double seated table. I had to shift the table a bit so I had a little more elbow room. The only reason I got a refill on my coffee was I asked them. Then either a waiter or a manager (I didn't know because I always had a different waiter coming to my table each time) , old guy, had the big idea of rearranging my table on me. Why he could not have waited till I finished my meal, I don't know, but it spilled coffee on my table. I cancelled my order and walked out of there.

This is my new favorite restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. I especially love the breaksfasts. The coffee is WONDERFUL. The pancakes are the best I've ever eaten. The thick peppered bacon is great!. I also prefer the #2 breakfast because it has a little of everything I love. The one thing they don't have is french fries which to me is a detriment, but their rosemary potatoes and mashed potatoes are great. The atmosphere is eclectic. No one drinks out of the same size, shape or color coffee mugs. They advertise Kinkey Friedman for governor. When the weather is nice there is a covered outdoor room that is pleasant to sit, eat and people watch in. Give it a try. You'll really like it. Very reasonably priced.

The #2 Breakfast Special is the best deal in Dallas --- 2 eggs your choice, sausage or bacon, with a short stack of the biggest freakin' short stack you've seen. Just Awesome for 5.99!!!!!! It is yummy!

And you just might see some local Celebs --- Barry Whistler, Mike Morgan, Paul from Hard Nights Day, Bucks Burnett, Barley...members of various bands, etc. Rumour has it that Action Jackson Reed has been seen on several occasions!
