I don't know what cafe Mr.Breakfast was in when he wrote this review, but it most certainly was NOT the St.Croix Cafe. We've stopped in at this cafe numerous times and have absolutely nothing bad to say about the establishment, the staff, or the food we have ever been served. The food is always hot off the grill, and there has always been more than enough of it and the place is clean and well maintained. Whenever someone I know is planning to head East (or West) on US Hwy 8, I always tell them to stop there for great food (and plenty of it). Those who have stopped there always say they'll be back whenever they're around the area. Their lunch menu is always excellent also.

I am commenting to the anonymous breakfast lover who reviewed on 11/27/2010...I happened to be at the St. Croix Cafe when you were there because I specifically remember you complaining about everything under the sun! It's pretty bad when other customers tip the manager and waitresses after you leave because they can't believe how rude you were! AND...the waitress offered to bring out another plate of hash browns free of charge but you denied! The manager asked that you pay for the coffee you drank and not the meal and you still bitched!! This place is definitely not a dump and has amazingly good home-cooked meals!! The prices are also extremely reasonable considering the quality and quantity of food! I recommend this restaurant to all travelers and city folks who haven't been there yet!! I will visit again when I get the chance!!

One of my favorite places to eat breakfast. Everything on the menu is delicious and the food is always cooked perfectly. The homemade bread and cinnamon and caramel rolls are melt in your mouth awesome and the waitresses are friendly. If you ever visit St. Croix Falls I definitely would recommend stopping by the St. Croix Cafe for a great breakfast.

This was one of the WORST meals I've ever been served. The restaurant is dirty and our order was incorrect. The food was so greasy that it was gray and smelled terrible. It all tasted like old grease. The croissant was burnt. The scrambled eggs were stringy. The hashbrowns were mushy. The pancakes were doughy and not cooked all the way, but still had a burnt flavor. We had ordered the hashbrowns on a plate by themselves. Not only did they not come that way, but they arrived under one of the meals (under the eggs, bacon, and toast.) When we pointed out the error the waitress asked us if we wanted to buy another order of hashbrowns! No apology even. Then we tasted the food. It was so bad we could not eat it. That has only happened to me once or twice in my life. I know it is small town food - I was not expecting it to be wonderful, but I do not think edible is too much to ask! We informed the manager (?) and got a huge argument that we should pay for the meal anyway. She even threatened to call the police, which we of course welcomed her to do. This was disgusting. Never, ever step foot into this dump!

The category of "Greasy Spoon" really doesn't fit for this establishment. Their breakfast platters and breakfast skillets are awesome and will keep you filled for hours. Prices are reasonable for the quantity and quality of their food. The other breakfast items are also excellent. Their lunch menu is also varied and outstanding with plenty of food for the price. Whenever we are in the area, we always make it a point to stop in and enjoy the food and friendly clean atmosphere!
Try it...........you won't be disappointed!

This is the best breakfast I have ever had. Generous portions and the cinnamon rolls are awesome.
The staff was friendly and the atmosphere was that of a small town cafe which I truly enjoy.
Everyone should visit - at least once!!!

My family and I have frquently had saturday morning breakfasts here. It is our favorite. Their cinnamon french toast with thick sliced bacon is great. Especially nice restaurant for visitors at any of the local state and national parks.
