The food is good and hearty. Portions are large....you won't go away hungry. The coffee could be stronger but that's a personal preference. They always seem to be busy and there is usually a wait. The service is good considering the large crowds.

My family and I have been eating at the Grill for over 10 years. The food is best quality and very well prepared. Service can be slow but we never mind as any wait is well worth it. Out-of-town friends always ask to go back on their next visit.

Our group of five arrived at noon on a Wednesday in October. We were seated immediately & a friendly waitress approached with menus for all. For those who wanted them, drinks were served promptly. Each person ordered something different from the menu - ranging from breakfast items to the special of the day, a chicken salad stuffed tomato with greens. Everything was fresh, attractively served and delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant.

I've been goin to Sutter Street for more than 10 years, and can tell you that it's primarily for the great food. As well, the atmosphere is laid back with folks coming off the bike trail after a hard ride or just after church. Be prepared to wait up to 30-45 minutes as that's part of the atmosphere that is Sutter Street. And ask yourself, if it was as its detractors describe in this blog, would they still get frequented every weekend by hoards of people? I don't think so. Go there...you'll LOVE it.

The service sucked. It took a while to get a table and when I did the hostess was rude. My food was so discusting I couldn't eat it. My pancakes tasted like cardboard, the syrup had the consistency of water, my eggs were runny and undercooked and the toast had mold growing on it. I wanted to complain, but I never saw the waitress after she took my order.

I felt bad not paying as I attempted to eat the food, so it took me 20 minutes just to get the bill payed for by one person as 5 other people standing around the credit machine were not authorized to use it or spoke enough English to understand me.
One of the worst meals and dinning experiences ever.

I would dumpster dive before ever eating there again!.

After reading all the reviews I thought I would comment myself. First of all the food is excellent. Coffee is Java City which is great and the service is wonderful. I have been going to Sutter Street Grill for 13 years since Lorna has owned the place. The waitresses are so fun and love their job, my favorite is Monique, or Moe as we call her. I have never had a bad experience there or bad service. I think the guy with the bad comments was in another restaurant.

If you are hungry you want to go here. The food is really good the waitress are nice and the protions are huge. You may have to wait a bit to get in but the free coffee while you wait is nice and the food is worth it.

The Grill as my friends and I call it, is our favorite restaurant of choice for breakfast and lunch in the Sacramento area. The Grill has that old fashion local feel. The overall atmostphere of the Grill - from the employees, other patrons and food make you feel like you're at home with family. Not only do the employees take pride in their work - from cooking to serving, but so does the owner - who works there everyday (everytime I've ever been there!) to ensure you have the best ever experience! The minute you walk into the Grill, you feel the absolute love of this restaurant. The Grill has awesome, very generous portions (you better bring your appetite!) perfect pancakes, excellent eggs - exactly how you order them!, fresh squeezed OJ, and the coffee is to die for! Everything's wonderful! I never have better service than when I'm at the Grill. I highly recommend you visit the Grill - sit back, relax and enjoy the heavenly food and incomparable experience! Happy breakfast!

Walking in, the place was packed, which would normally give the impression that this is a place that serves good food.

I couldn't have been more wrong.

First, I sat down at the counter, and it took 20 minutes for one of the waitresses to just ask if I wanted a cup of coffee, and then hand me a menu (talking to her friend about some trivial matter was apparently more important than her job). Tack on another five just to get the coffee from the pot that was directly behind her. Then, another 10 to take my order.

When the food arrived, it was mostly undercooked. Seeing the cooks and their, shall we say, unsanitary food-handling practices involving a nose made me get up after a few minutes. While paying my bill (I had to, since I had eaten a large chunk of the dish), a cockroach ran across my hand.

As for the food quality: it was poor. Piss-poor.Undercooked hash-browns, runny scrambled eggs, and watery coffee. If this is a Folsom-resident favorite, the people who eat there must enjoy the food cooked in the prison.

The overall experience was so bad, I actually called the health department on them. So, if you're in need of breakfast/lunch, look elsewhere. You'll have a better experience at McDonalds.

Just take a look at the health code violations on the wall, and you will never want to come back here again. The wait is always long, the food is undercooked, overcooked, or just plain bad, and there are many cockroaches that call this place home. I find the advertisments on the table a rather tacky touch, and the rude waitress routine the final straw to never visit this establishment again. Belive me, this is not the place to go for a nice breakfast.

Watch out, this place can be extremely crowded. If you have a larger group, you may not have much elbow-room. The servers are also really busy, so you may not have as many visits as you would like. All of that aside, the Sutter Street Grill has hearty portions, great food, and you're in Old Folsom, so you know it has to be nice. Try this restaurant at least once, and don't forget to bring your appetite.
