The place is a hoot. Runs 24 hours a day. Great fresh food and prices arent't too bad considering the location on Las Olas. The portions are generous and I've never left hungry.
No credit cards and there's a sign that says so. Great omelettes and sandwiches. Don't miss the restaurant on your next trip to Ft. Lauderdale

After enjoying our dinner I hand my bankcard (VISA) over to the server. She looks at it and says, "Sorry, we don't accept it, but we do have an ATM." She then says, "I've had complaints about this before and asked the owner about it. Between you and me...the owner owns the machine!". Then, already upset I go up to the ATM machine where I pay $2.00 to get cash (and my bank charges ANOTHER $2.00), to pay a lousy $24.00 check. I go to to pay at the register and tell the gentleman that it's unfair they don't accept credit cards. He then gave me a little attitude about it and then said, "Yeah, I've been yelling at the owner about it for years!". I then proceeded to tell him to tell the owner that they just lost a regular customer. He said, "Will Do!" Little did the guy know that I knew(and I'm pretty darn sure), that he was either the owner or one of the owners.) The whole point is...don't rip customers off! In this day and age who doesn't accept credit cards? Talk about a trap to get you to use their ATM. Appreciate your customers and treat them well or they won't come back ever again. Case in point - We went there 3-4 times (with cash and never knew about the issue). This was our last time. Food was decent, nothing special, but this took it over the edge for me.

At the Floridian, you get a pretty good deal...the real jem of this place is that it's open 24 hours. In the middle of the night, brightly-lit sidewalk seating and oldies music lure in all walks of life. Now, we’re not talking any body of the creepy persuasion, unless you’re willing to include the occasional blonde, Juicy-Couture-sweatpants-wearing princesses who leak over from the nearby mega affluent east-side neighborhoods. Fortunately for the rest of us, The Floridian is an oasis of anti-Las Olasian kitch. No booths here, and instead the space is filled with a sea of tables and chrome-backed chairs. For as far as the eyes can see, a plethora of framed Hollywood memorabilia blankets the brightly painted walls. The place drifts off into gradually smaller rooms featuring different wall themes, and the Floridian oozes delightfully ramshackle character. Chandeliers sparkle above nooked tables, and you can usually find me sitting by the window at the Elvis table.
Service is reminiscent of your frizzly but lovable sister. From both downtown Fort Lauderdale’s Himmershe clubs and the Fort Lauderdale beach strip, the Floridian is a mere 5 minutes away. Breakfasts can make the place a madhouse though, and it's packed packed packed. I'm not sure if this guy still does his radio show there in the morning, but he used to from 8-9am everyday. For the banana split, the menu asserts the bananas have been “gently peeled” by a “banana expert”. Ex-cell-ent-e.
What to try at 3am: chili cheese fries, sandwiches, things involving ice cream like banana splits and root beer floats…also, breakfasts here go the extra mile your mom wouldn’t... they tend to be huge and varied. Try the "Butch's Recipe for a Happy Butch". The place is totally awesome for hanging out due to it's groovy ambiance and insulated pitchers of coffee right at your table!
