There are joints, dives, dumps, and then there's this place. I could get past the rude service, crowds, dirty surroundings and the inexplicably long lines of people waiting to get in if the wait were worth it. It isn't. I've actually been back several times...I go, don't like it, then read raves of people who love it, and think that maybe I just don't get it. I've finally figured it out; it's not that I don't get it, it's that I ain't buying it. At least they don't bring the coffee pot around that often...what they're pouring isn't worth drinking anyways. And since it's cheap, you won't feel like you've been all that ripped off. Basically this is the Emperor's New Clothes of breakfast places...except no one has stood on the tables to tell the place the Emperor is buck naked. Yet.

I was first introduced to Jimmy's from my parents when I was a child. My dad worked as a butcher in the nearby Broadway Market. It has recently changed its interior (new lighting) but it still has one of the best breafast menus in Baltimore!

I have been going there on and off for years. I enjoy their breakfast items and the various egg sandwiches are great for 'grab and go' breakfasts on the way to work. The meatloaf sandwich is killer too!

My fiance and I love to go to Jimmy's for the breakfast specials. The eggs are always cooked to order and the homefries cannot be beat. The homefries are a great blend of potatoes, onions, green peppers all grilled together. Whether you get the platters with just eggs and meat, pancakes, or French Toast, you will not be disappointed. The muffins are huge and when grilled make for a great kids treat. The sausages are mild but flavorful reminiscent of Irish or English country sausages.

Jimmy's is a great place to mingle with a great cross-section of Baltimore: local shop oweners, residents, doctors/nurses from Hopkins Hospital, police officers, actors (local and otherwise), tug boat crews, water taxi crews, and plain old Canton boys (like me) who come home to enjoy the flavors only Jimmy's can deliver.

Disgusting! Unremarkable! Horrible furnishings (it's an old, run-down, dirty deli), minimal customer service, and CROWDS of people snaking between tables waiting to be seated. I've been twice and both times (before 8:30) had menu items run out (hash, specials). I guess some people are into the tourist rip-off experience....

Jimmy's is not fancy, but it is worth the wait in line. People and government employees have been going there for decades. The breakfasts are incredible; from thier homefries made from real potatoes and seasoned with onion to the sausage, that is mild yet flavorful. The meatloaf sandwhich reminds me of home. For the more health conscious, the oatmeal is creamy and satisfying. There is something for everyone at Jimmy's!
