Just checked, and Edith Barron has also passed away, at age 86, on 29 July 2007. Not sure what their son and daughter are currently doing.

As has been noted, the restaurant never re-opened after the 2001 fire. Owner and chef Gordon Barron died in 1999 at the age of 87; I do not know if he wife Edith is still living; Barron's Family Restaurant was the subject of a wonderful half-hour episode of "Visiting With Huell Howser" in June 1997. It is episode #516 and is available from Huell's site.

Great Pancakes! Here's what AAA had to say:
"...the warmheartedness of the place makes up for that, as does the care with which the food is prepared. The fluffy pancakes here are nearly legendary, but the French toast, made of chewy, yeasty bread studded with raisins, is even better. Omelettes are another good bet, as are the sausages, which come in several varieties, including spicy turkey, Louisiana, and mesquite jalapeņo. After polishing off a Barron's breakfast, you won't be thinking about your next meal for a while."
