I was there last week with my daughter. I had a hard time deciding what to order because everything on the menu and the daily specials looked appealing. I finally settled on the (Challah) french toast encrusted with almonds, layered with melted Brie cheese, sprinkled with fresh blueberries, strawberries and drizzled with honey. The home fries were exceptional - crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. I'm looking forward to my next trip to Maryland just to try the berry crepes!

Everything was top rated at our breakfast trip to this place today. We got the "whole 9 yards" dish. All was cooked to perfection, not at all greasy, but not dry either. The waiter seemed out of it, but nothing to do with the place, and she got the order right.

We've been going to this place from time to time and it's usually always a nice experience. We've known it since it was owned by the one family, that later sold to current owners (I think). We go every once in a while. It's a treat for us.

Don't seat near the door - can be noisy.

We have been going to the Breakfast Shoppe for years and never had a bad meal! No, they aren't the cheapest around, but you get a good sized breakfast for the money. It's always clean and tidy....more that I can say for some of the places in the Severna Park area that have now closed! We have never encountered any problem with coffee refills...I mean geez, they bring you a whole carafe full! Service is attentive considering how busy they are! We were there this past Sunday and I emptied our carafe of coffee and our girl was over in no time to refill it! Yes, it may seem like they are a little on the slower side, but it's also a very small cafe and not mass produced food....very homey! :) Food is served once it comes up and always very fresh and hot. There are always specials everyday...just watch the flat screen above the breakfast bar to see what they are. Their orange juice is great...always freshly squeezed out of a very unique machine that they have, not to mention interesting to watch. My favorites are the creamed chipped beef on challah bread and the backpackers pies. Always great! Hubby loves their benedicts...they have a number of them! Even before the closing of IHOP (which was TRASH!), there were lines of people outside of the Breakfast Shoppe waiting for breakfast so there must be *something* good about them.

Great Food. This place is my favorite breakfast place by far. A bit slow because it is a very Ma and Pa restaurant.

I am a breakfast fiend - will have breakfast any time of the day or night if I can get it - this place is absolutely terrific - crisp bacon, perfectly done eggs over medium, english muffins toasted just the right amount. I wish I had more free time to eat there.

Inconsistent fare. Sometimes the food is very creative and enjoyable; occasionally they screw up the basics and then tell you it's you that has the problem (so wait a few months to go back; surely there will be turnover in the staff and the management's basic approach is a good one.)
Consistently, on weekends, the wait can be long and the service, while cheerful, can be negligent. They do stuff like forget to bring the toast and you're done with your meal before you see the waitperson to remind them. If you go through your thermos of coffee fast, or if you want water or have a problem, forget it: your harried but good-natured waitperson won't come back to you til it's check time. And they don't always ask you to go to a cleaned table; you have to take the initiative out of impatient annoyance to seat yourself from the front of the long line.
During the week, it's fine.
I wouldn't stoop to criticize another because their opinion differs from mine. I do know that I am NOT a nuthead! IHOP, Gary's Grill, Friendly's, the Neptune Diner, and even Einstein's Bagels all have long lines too, which means breakfast that's decent is popular in our area.

I love this restaurant and highly recommend it! It’s the best food out of any breakfast establishment you will find in Maryland - (I consider myself a regular here and I live about 40 minutes away). Every time I have ever brought my friends to eat here, they ask me "When are we coming back?” I have never had a problem with the service; the waitresses are always very prompt and courteous. Their various types of eggs benedicts are the best around, but their unique specials are out of this world! This place cannot be compared with other breakfast restaurants; it is in a different league on its own. The only problem with this place is that it is not closer to my house.

These other reviews must have been written by nutheads. First, as for the coffee refill rating: Hello! they give you a whole thermos full of premium City Dock coffee...How could you possibly give any rating less than 4 or 5 out of five. Second, as for slow service: Hello! Do you mean that they are always packed and busy and because you have to wait, that means service is slow? Third,Pricey? IHOP a better value. WHAT? Go ahead and keep eating at Applebees... The rest of us will go to Ruths Cris for a steak!...
(IHOP food is terrible...the prices are the same if not more in some instances. Last, you will find breakfast foods offered here that no one else would ever think of. I love this place, come here all the time, and I am surprised at the other reviews. Maybe they had a rare, bad experience.

Try the eggs benedict. Everything else we tried was pretty generic breakfast fare.

I used to be a Gary's Grill (Severna Park) regular.

This place is much nicer...the seats are kinda tough to relax and sit on--hard wood!

However the portions are great and match well for the value of what you are paying for.

The weekday service is quick.

This place is well-hidden; perhaps a good thing otherwise it woud be even more popular! It's worth seeking out. The service and full pot of coffee are great, as are the breakfasts - both the run-of-the-mill and the creative specials.

As I am always in search of a good breakfast, I found myself traveling to Severna Park, on a suggestion from a friend. This place is worth traveling to even if you live in the DC metro area. When I first arrived, there was a line out the door. Not fond of long lines, but this could be a good sign. The line moved pretty quick, but it always had more people joining it. They have the freshest best tasting coffee, and they squeeze their own OJ fresh to order, per glass. The food is outstanding!!! This is no mom and pop business. They have traditional breakfast items, but they also offer items that no one else does. My husband had bruchetta eggs benedict. Where else can you get something like that for breakfast! The specials are what you need to go for, they are creative, but so good, you will be back for more. They have a website, but I don't think its finished.

Perhaps this review is a little biased, being that I am one of the business partners. Having said that, I feel that we are one of the best in the business. Today is 04/11/04. I myself visited a highly regarded breakfast restaurant in Fells Point today. I could see why they ranked in the top of Digital Cities Baltimore Best. It was a pleasant experience, I liked the decor, the menu and the prices seemed industry standard. Later, after I left I thought to myself: "We really deserve all of the media attention that these other restaurants have enjoyed for years because, darn it, we're really great too! Please come visit, we'ed love to serve you.
