This cereal was described on the back of the introductory box like this: "Milk & Chocolate... The Perfect Couple... Introducing Hershey's Kisses Cereal. Together at last, a cereal inspired by your favorite chocolate treat, ready to unite with milk to create the perfect tasting cereal."

The chocolate-flavored cereal pieces are meant to resemble Hershey's Kisses candies but they look more like distorted triangles. Hershey's Kisses, the candy, was introduced in 1907.

The ingredients listed on the nutrition panel are whole grain corn, sugar, cornmeal, corn syrup, Hershey's cocoa processed with alkali, unsweetened chocolate, canola oil, salt, caramel color, red 40, yellow 5, yellow 6 blue 1, tricalcium phosphate, natural flavor, trisodium phosphate, and a smattering of vitamins and minerals.
