Introduced in 1983

"It's wild with fruit flavors." - Donkey Kong Jr. TV Ad

This cereal was made up of fruit-flavored and fruit-shaped pieces: yellow bananas and red berries.

Known Premiums: Ralston Superstars Baseball Cards and Donkey Kong Junior Game Books.

Company Description: Ralston was originally part of The Ralston-Purina Company which was formed in 1902. The name Ralston stems from a minor social movement in the late 19th Century called Ralstonism - created by Webster Edgerly. Followers of the movement (about 800,000) followed the motto "Regime, Activity, Light, Strength, Temperation, Oxygen and Nature" - the first letters of which spelled out "Ralston"... Yeah, this is one of those legendary cereals that I wish I could taste again after 30+ years. It was also my mom's favorite and the main reason we always had two boxes and a box of the regular DK stuff. I'm not usually nostalgic but I really wish I had a personal time machine that went back to the mid 80s and mid 90s so I could always snag some of my favorite foods and soda (Josta). Snacks and cereal really were better back then.

Donkey Kong Jr is great and so is Donkey Kong. They are both great classic Nintendo games and I would love it if the cereals of them would come back.

Cool. Never tried it, but I would if it ever came back. Which it won't, I know.

No doubt that this was one great tasting cereal, unlike today's selections. I do remember Fruity Freakies tasting similar, so this would be a complete toss up between the 2 as to which one was best! We need a time machine people!
