Southern Comfort French Toast

(4 servings)    Printable Version
  • 2 loaves of bread
  • 1/3 cup sugar
  • 3/4 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup Southern Comfort
  • 7 eggs
  • 2 cups Half & Half
  • 1/4 tsp. salt
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 2 Tbsp. oil
Mix all ingredients (except the bread and syrup) in a large bowl until smooth. Grease fry pan / skillet with shortening or butter. Dip (DO NOT SOAK) slices of bread in the batter and fry on both sides until brown. Remember to grease the pan before each batch.

Just made a similar Fench toast without seeing the recipe here... used Jameson's Irish Whiskey for the french toast and am using Orange marmalade for topping... delicious... I'm thinking this one would be too...

I love in the south west of England (Totne, South Devon), I would like to try making this recipe, but I do not know what is Southern Comfort. Is this whiskey or some kind of spice? Thank you.
