Vanilla Cream French Toast
(4 servings) Printable Version
- 8 slices of French Bread (the thicker the better)
- 1/2 cup heavy cream or whipping cream
- 2 large eggs
- 2 Tablespoons sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- butter or margarine for frying
Dip bread slices into egg mixture, coating both sides generously.
On a griddle or skillet at medium heat, melt butter or margaring and cook each slice until both sides are golden-brown. You can place completed French Toast slices on a serving plate in an oven set to 100 degrees -- to keep finished slices warm as you cook the others.
Serve with either butter and maple syrup; or seasonal fruit and whipped cream (I love bananas!)
This is a perfect breakfast-in-bed thing to serve if you want to make sure you get some sugar from your sugar:)

Delicious! My daughter wanted French toast. I only had heavy cream on hand, so I googled French toast using heavy cream, so glad I did.

Mine came out wonderfully. I used day-old bread (always best for French Toast). Using cream instead of milk is the reason this one is better than other recipes.

Thank you for sharing your recipe. My son wanted French toast I realized all I had was heavy whipping cream. I decided to Google French toast using heavy whipping cream and saw your recipe. Absolutely Amazing! I added cinnamon and an extra egg. Perfect with Texas toast bread.

I also had GREAT results with this recipe. I added one more egg to the batter because I like my French toast to have a good egg coating.

I put the bread slices in a baking dish and let them set in the custard mixture for an entire hour. You have to be very careful when you transfer the bread from the baking pan to the griddle. Use a spatula or else the pieces will break. They absorb all the mixture this way and are extra creamy and delicious in the middle.
