Smart Start: Soy Protein
From: Kellogg's
Introduced in 2004

Smart Start Soy Protein Cereal consisted of lightly sweetened rice, whole-wheat flakes and cinnamon-flavored soy granola clusters. Each 200 calorie serving provided 10 grams of protein and 100 percent of 10 vitamins and minerals (including folic acid and vitamins B6, B12 and E).

In a press release dated April 7, 2004, Kellogg's senior director of nutrition, Michael McBurney, Ph.D., was quoted as saying, "Smart Start Soy Protein is an important new breakfast option... a single serving provides one-quarter of the soy protein recommended daily to help prevent heart disease."

Unfortunately, you'll have to get your soy protein somewhere else now. This cereal has been discontinued.

Company Description: Kellogg's was originally founded as the Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company in 1906. The company's founder Will Keith Kellogg is credited with inventing corn flakes along with his brother John Harvey Kellogg. The company was renamed the Kellogg Company in 1922...
