The first high protein cereal fortified with seven vitamins and iron.

A 1971 TV ad described it like this:

"This is America's favorite high protein cereal... Kellogg's Special K. I also has 8 essential vitamins. Special K gives your family 33% the officially established minimum daily adult requirements of iron, thiamin, riboflavin, niacin, vitamins C, A & D plus vitamins B6 & B12. Special K cereal is 99% fat free and it's delicious. Look for the big red K. The whole family will like it."

I ate it until the change in 1982 (I was 20 then). Living only a few miles from Canada. I would occasionally pick up a box of the Canadian product which was the same as the pre-1982 U.S. version. Now that's gone too. Too many food companies screw up a good thing.

The small flake was the best. Very delicious. I think it was changed to the larger flakes in 1982.
