40% Bran Flakes (Kellogg's)
From: Kellogg's
Introduced in 1915

This cereal's slogans included "for that bran new feeling" and "the delicious way to gentle regularity."

In the late 1980's, Kellogg's changed the name from "40% Bran Flakes" to "40+ Bran Flakes" to grab a larger portion of the 40-plus market. The name change was challenged by The Iowa Attorney General's Office under the reasoning that there was no indication that people over 40 have dietary needs different from those of people under 40.

40% Bran Flakes were the best. I think the last time I had them was in the late 80's. I wish I could still get them.

Looked all over in 3 grocery stores including Meijers, Walmart and Krogers and couldn't find them... Is there an equivalent?

I, too, was a 40% Bran regular and stopped eating cereal when it left the market.

There was a Chocolate Dot Pumpkin recipe on one box of 40% Bran Flakes. I have been making that cake for about the pass 50 years. Around 1971, I copied it and placed in a cookbook. One of the greatest cakes ever. Need the 40% Bran Flakes again.
