Introduced in 1965
- In the 1980's Honey-Comb Cereal was promoted with a jingle that went, "Honeycomb's big. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's not small. No, no, no. Honeycomb's got... a big, big taste... a big, big crunch... for a big, big bite!"
Honeycomb was described on boxes as a "sweet crisp corn cereal." In the summer of 2010, Post Cereals' website described it like this: "Post Honeycomb is a sweetened corn and oat cereal in a unique BIG honeycomb shape. Its honey-sweet taste has had kids of all ages loving Honeycomb for almost 30 years."
When this cereal first came out, it was described on the box like this:
"Honeycomb is a new kind of cereal for the whole family. It's made from golden corn and sweetened with pure natural honey and sugar. It's fun-to-eat, light in the bite and crisp as can be! And it floats on milk to stay crisp! Enjoy this delicious cereal for breakfast - or any time you are in the mood for a different kind of snack. You won't want to add sugar. Honeycomb is just naturally sweet enough for everyone."
In the mid-2000's, Post began monkeying with the recipe of Honey-Comb to make it more healthy. In 2017, they reformulated the recipe to the extent that it tasted very different from the original formula. Reviews of the new flavor on this website and Amazon were exceedingly negative. In 2018, boxes of the cereal proclaimed, "IT'S BACK! ORIGINAL FLAVOR."
