Sanitarium Fig & Bran Flakes
This cereal was described in a magazine ad as "luscious figs combined with choice bran and rolled into large, thin flakes!" Another ad called it "a dainty cereal of bran and luscious figs." We know that this cereal was being produced in 1929 and 1930.
Company Description: This company is a spin-off of sorts from the original company that became Kellogg's. In 1900, John and Will Kellogg founded the Sanitas Food Company to produce cereals. Around 1906, a rift between the brothers resulted in a separation of the Sanitas operation. Will Kellogg went on to form The Battle Creek Toasted Corn Flake Company (which eventually became Kellogg's), while John Kellogg went on to form The Battle Creek Food Company... Bran Fig flakes was a great cereal. I first ate it in the fifties. I wish it was still available.
