Norwegian Heart-Shaped Waffles
(18 servings) Printable Version
- 2 cups sugar
- 5 medium eggs
- 4 to 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 quart buttermilk
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 cup whipping cream
- 1/4 cup margarine - melted
- 1 teaspoon cardamom
Cook in a heart-shaped waffle iron following manufacturer's instructions.
Avoid greasing iron; use non-stick cooking spray if necessary.
Serve waffles with berry jam.
These delicious waffles require one very important ingredient: a heart-shaped waffle iron. If you don't have one, Norwegian Waffle-Shaped Waffles are good too.

They are fantastic we look forward to eating them. I can remember eating these in Norway as a kid. They were big and thin, you would buy them from a stand. Then you pick your toppings and roll them up to eat.

We lived in Norway for several years and enjoyed these frequently. This recipe tastes great! Our sons even use it at college for whipping up special treats for friends.
