Crazy for Craisins (Oatmeal)

  • 1 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup Old Fasioned or quick cooking oats
  • 1/3 cup craisins
  • 1 large egg (beaten)
  • 1/2 Tablespoon white sugar
  • 1/2 Tablespoon brown sugar
Bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Add 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.

Stir 1/2 cup oats, 1/3 cup craisins and egg. Mix it in quickly before the egg cooks!

Add the white and brown sugar.

Enjoy!


This experimental recipe has become a house favorite. I sometimes cook it the night before, thus saving time to enjoy a leisurely morning.

I wasn't a huge fan of this but it was ok. I had to add milk for there to be enough liquid in the end.

Delicious!

I suggest mixing the egg with the oatmeal before adding it to the water. That helped prevent the egg from cooking too quickly on me. (:
