Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Honey Syrup

Chocolate Chip Pancakes with Honey Syrup

(3 servings)    Printable Version
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 egg
  • 3/4 cup milk
  • 2 Tablespoons canola oil
  • 1/4 cup miniature chocolate chip baking bits
  • 1/2 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup butter or margarine
  • 1/2 to 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
In one bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the egg, milk, and oil.

Add the combined wet ingredients to the bowl of dry ingredients. Mix well and stir in chocolate chips.

Pour the batter by 1/4 cupfuls onto a lightly greased hot griddle. Turn when bubbles form on top; cook until second side is golden brown. Keep Warm.

Now, combine honey, butter and cinnamon in a small microwaveable bowl. Microwave, uncovered, until butter is melted and syrup is hot. Serve with pancakes.

I am a college student and live by myself. Therefore, to accommodate one person, I simply half this recipe and make one large and thick pancake (with the perfect pancake maker). You can cook more batter at a time for larger, thicker pancakes, or vice-versa. Also, this recipe can be altered to taste. For example, I sometimes use half whole-wheat flour and half regular flour and have added walnuts and different kinds of chocolate chips.

Any way you make it, these pancakes with the syrup are delicious!

The honey butter cinnamon syrup is GREAT! I didn't make the pancakes, but I can say the syrup is really, really good on frozen waffles. So, just keep in mind that my rating is for the syrup only. - Jenn

Instead of chocolate chips I use M & M's. They don't melt in the pan. Just push them down under the surface of the pancake and let the batter flow over them before you flip the pancake over.

It was little heavy, but super delicious. I'd make it again, but only for a special Sunday breakfast where I'm allowed to eat a little more than usual.

I liked this recipe but would agree that the batter needs more milk and I also added a little vanilla to the second half of the batter and it was much tastier.

Yum! I did add an extra 1/4 cup of milk but other than that I made these just like the recipe. Very fluffy. And the syrup is wonderful.

The batter came out very thick so I increased the milk to about 1 1/4 cup.

Useful to make a double batch without the syrup to freeze, then microwave later.

I love these... I was just about to make some Betty Crocker pancakes then I remembered these, they are so much better. I haven't made the honey syrup yet.
