Swiss Muesli

Swiss Muesli

  • 2 cups rolled oats - old fashioned or quick
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 Tablespoon honey
  • 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla
  • 1 cup low-fat yogurt
In a large bowl, stir all of the ingredients together, except for the yogurt. Cover and refrigerate over night.

The following morning, add the yogurt. You may also want add some pizzazz and flavor by adding any or all of the following: 1/4 cup of your favorite chopped nuts; a handful of your favorite chopped fruit (apples, bananas and peaches all work great); or 1/4 cup of dried fruit like raisins or dried apricot pieces).

You can mix everything together or layer the ingredients like a parfait. Serve and enjoy!


This is a recipe for a traditional Swiss Muesli. It can be very easily suited to your personal tastes and favorites. I hope you love it. Please post your favorite flavor additions below.

I first ate this on the Eurodam Cruise ship for Holland cruise lines and now make it all the time. Love it.

To the oats I add grated apple, and lemon juice. The apple moistens the oats so there is no need to soak overnight. Then you can add things like almonds, hazelnuts, raisins if you like. I prefer adding fresh fruit in the summer like blueberries, yoghurt and a little milk if necessary.

I've had this for breakfast for the last 3 days. It is wonderful and very filling. I also like that it is a simple muesli recipe not requiring nuts and dried fruit which really add on the calories.
