Slow Cooker Apple Butter

  • 4 cups peeled and chopped Granny Smith apples
  • 3/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
  • 2 Tablespoons balsamic vinegar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 Tablespoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 and 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
This recipe makes about 2 cups of apple butter.

In the crock pot, combine all of the ingredients EXCEPT for the vanilla and 2 Tablespoons of the butter. Cover and cook on low for 8 hours.

Stir in the remaining butter and the vanilla. Allow apple butter to cool completely before serving.

Stores well in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Wonderful on toast or as a topping for waffles or crepes. Chop the apples coarsely for chunkier consistency.
