Bircher Muesli

Bircher Muesli

(2 servings)    Printable Version
  • 1/2 cup oatmeal
  • 1/4 cup Apple Juice
  • 1/4 cup natural plain or vanilla yogurt
  • pinch of cinnamon
  • 1 medium apple (preferably Granny Smith)
  • 1 Tablespoon crushed almonds
  • 1 Tablespoon dried cranberries
  • 1 medium banana
  • 1 handful blueberries
1) Mix oatmeal, juice, cinnamon and yogurt together in a large bowl. Cover and refrigerate overnight.

2) In the morning, grate the apple and slice the banana into the oatmeal. Mix in the blueberries, almonds and cranberries.

3) Enjoy!


Any fruit at all can be used in this recipe. Also, you could try using orange or pineapple juice for a more tropical muesli.

This is amazing! My grandmother studied with Dr. Bircher in Switzerland in about 1915 or so. She fed us "Bircher Muesli" all the time when I was a kid but I never had the recipe. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

Was on a cruise ship which had "Bircher Muesli" on the menu. Was great!! Ate it every day! YUM

Yeah... I soak the dried fruit (me like raisins) with the oats in just the juice over night and then add yogurt and fruits come morning... better texture.
