Hawaiin Hulala French Toast
(3 servings) Printable Version
- Hawaiin Sweet Bread
- 1/2 and 1/2 cream
- cinnamon
- vanilla
- coconut milk
- eggs
- pecans
- seasonal berries
- 1/4 cup sugar or Splenda
- whipped cream
1 CUP 1/2 N 1/2
1 TBS. CINNAMON
1 TBS. VANILLA
1/4 CUP COCONUT MILK
*MIX THE ABOVE INTO A FRENCH TOAST EGG WASH*
SPRINKEL SUGAR/SPLENDA OVER ONE CUP OF BERRIES AND SET ASIDE.(THIS IS SO THAT YOU WILL HAVE A BERRY SYRUP TO DRIZZLE WITH.)*SPLENDA WORKS OK, BUT SUGAR WORKS THE BEST. BESIDES THIS IS NOT A LOW-CAL DISH SO I DON'T SEE THE POINT IN USEING SPENDA. BUT YOU CAN, IT JUST DOESNT WORK AS WELL.
I DONT SERVE SYRUP WITH THIS, WHEN I USE THE BERRIES, BECAUSE OF THE JUICE THAT I DRIZZLE OVER THE TOAST. BUT A PECAN SYRUP DOES REALLY WELL. I SELL THIS IN MY RESTAURANT AND THEY JUST LOVE IT. THIS IS VERY EASY TO DO, AND THE COCONUT MILK REALLY JUST BURSTS WITH FLAVOR IN THIS DISH. THE ABOVE WILL MAKE ABOUT 2-3 SERVEINGS, BUT YOU CAN ALWAYS ADD MORE CREAM AND MILK AND EGGS ETC... TO MAKE MORE. I DONT REALLY MEASURE BECAUSE I MAKE IT TO ORDER AND NOT AHEAD OF TIME. ALSO IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET CREATIVE, YOU CAN GARNISH THE PLATE WITH SOME PANSY FLOWERS, I, WHEN I CAN GET THEM PUT ONE ON TOP OF THE ON TOP WHIP TOPPING,I ALSO SPRINKEL JUST ALITTLE FRESH COCONUT, AND IT JUST SETS THE DISH. OH AND I KNOW THAT SOUNDS LIKE ALOT OF CINNAMON BUT I LIKE CINNAMON AND IT TASTES GOOD! AND I HAVE NEVER GOTTEN A COMPLAINT!!!!! PUT 2 CUPS OF GROUND/FINE CHOPED PECANS IN A SEPERATE PLATE/FLAT DISH.
CUT HAWAIIAN BREAD 1 1/4 INCH THICK. (HALF FROZEN CUTS VERY WELL, AS THIS BREAD BREAKS EASILY) I CUT THIS BREAD RIGHT FROM THE FREEZER.*I USE 3 LARGE SLICES PER ORDER*
CUT THE LARGEST MIDDLE SLICES IN HALF, AND DIP IN THE EGG WASH, BOTH SIDES, THEN LAY IN GROUND/CHOPED PECANS BOTH SIDES, LAY IN A FRYING PAN WITH A 1/4 INCH COOKING OIL. LIGHTLY BROWN ON BOTH SIDES, .
KEEP YOUR FIRE DOWN, AS THE NUTS WILL BURN.
LAY ON A PLATE LIKE YOU WOULD REGULAR FRENCH TOAST. DUST WITH POWDERD SUGAR, PUT A GOOD SIZE DOLLUP OF REDI-WHIP AND GARNISH WITH FRESH STRAWBERRIES OR BLUEBERRIES OR MARRION BERRIES, OR ALITTLE OF ALL THREE,DRIZZLE JUICE FROM BERRIES AND ENJOY....YOU CAN ALSO ADD A FEW SLICES OF FRESH BANANA.
YOU WILL HAVE EGG WASH LEFT OVER, I DON'T RECOMENT SAVEING IT FOR THE NEXT DAY.
A great French Toast you don't even need syrup for.
