Apple Cider Syrup

  • 2 cups apple cider or apple juice
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 2 Tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 Tablespoons lemon juice
  • 1/4 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Mix together the sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon and nutmeg in saucepan. Pour in juice (apple and lemon). Cook and stir constantly until thickened. Boil and stir one additional minute. Remove from heat and stir in butter. Serve warm over pancakes.

I peeled and diced an apple and added the pieces to the syrup during the last minute and then let everything simmer until the apple pieces were tender. It made a really good topping for our French toast. I'd recommend trying it.

Delicious!! The whole family loved it, even my 3 year old who asked if he could eat it with a spoon! Of course the answer was NO!
