For the life of me I can't understand the negative comments about cleanliness, greasiness or high prices. This is comfort food and not an upscale faddish eatery. It's old and a little worn, true, but not dirty. We ate here Sunday evening, and no, I was not inebriated. Everything was top notch. The ham in my omelette was very plentiful, lean, tender and tasty. Lots of sharp American cheese. The hash browns were cooked to perfection. Pancakes can't be made better anywhere. Makes me wonder if competitors are making all the negative responses.

My wife and business partners have been eating at Uncle Bills on Manchester Blvd. in West County for over 15 years. The food has slowly gone down hill as the prices went up. Saturday evening around 5PM (12/19) my wife and I went in for a late dinner. We should have been tipped off as there was only two other parties seated. We waited for our server, Levi, who must have been brand new as he got our order wrong twice, and when it was finally delivered it was still way wrong. The food itself was a shock. The eggs were over done, the toast was actually burnt and without butter, the sausage and bacon were cold, hard and basically little hocky pucks. The hash browns was slopped over the edge of the plate and cold. My wife had ordered the biscuts and grav y but received two cold biscuts, two hocky pucks and a dollop of butter. We were very, very disappointed and are now looking for another family restaurant. We can only surmise that they changed management or are in real financial trouble. Either way I'm not sure I want to experience that again. In closing, the bill for sausage and eggs and biscuts and gravy with coffee was nearly $25.00. Insult to injury.

biscuits and gravy and coffee were excellent but my "veggie" omelet had only cheese, green pepper and onions. Not very "veggie". The place seems kinda dark and dirty for breakfast, could use some serious soap and elbow grease.

The first time I ate at Uncle Bill's was on a date with a man who would be my husband. Married now for 29 we have moved around the country, living in two states for a total of 10 years. Now we are back in MO. We eat at Uncle Bill's anytime we are in the city. Things we love about Uncle Bill's.
1. Attentive service, multiple coffee refills, always steaming hot.
2. Wait time for food served is reasonable. Served hot. Fresh. Omletes are fluffy. Pancakes are big and tasty. Hashbrowns have some crunch.
3. Neighborhood feel and prices are affordable.

I am from Houston. I have been to Uncle Bills 3 times and each time I loved it. I will go again. I am a diabetic so I do not eat the pancakes but I LOVE GRITS and theirs are GREAT. Really flavorful steak and eggs (baisc). GREAT Bacon. If anything, the service could be upgraded.

I ate at Uncle Bill's, and loved it SOOOOOOOO MUCH that I had my picture taken in front of it! For all of you people who say that their pancakes are horrid, I wouldn't know. I had a HUGE omelet, and it was so good, that I almost wanted another one!! There was a TON of delicious, mouth-watering cheese, and the egg was perfectly cooked! The egg actually completely covered the cheese! I also had a bagel, and it was fresh and piping hot. I recommend this to anyone with a hunger for breakfast, and an itchin' for some good homeestyle food!

The service is not very good and the prices are a little high for breakfast food. The portions are huge. The best part about this place is the pancakes! They are to die for. They are so good they make you forget about the bad service, for the most part.

I don't know what the fellow below was talking about, but, the pancakes are mouth watering and the syrup is warm and perfect ( not watered down)I prefer the Diced ham and eggs w/hashbrowns and pancakes. And.... If I'm really hungry, The Bisciuts and gravy are the best I have ever had.

The prices aren't that great, the service isn't that great, it gets crowded on weekends, but... the food is just so damn good. Highly recommended St. Louis late-night institution.

All menu items are excellent. My personal favorite is the country fried steak with white gravy complimented by eggs prepared to order along with golden brown hash browns and your choice of toast or pancakes. Worth the trip and it won't cost you an arm and a Leg!!

The pancakes stick to the roof of your mouth and the homestyle syrup is watery.
