Warm Spiced Apple Cider

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 quarts cider

  • 1 teaspoon whole cloves

  • orange sticks
Warm all ingredients in a stove-top pan over low heat. Serve hot.

It isn't Autumn without a little homemade apple cider in your belly. This drink reminds me of hayrides back home in Kentucky.

This was lovely, I took away the cloves because I don't really like the flavor, and it only needed 1 orange stick. But aside from that it was fabulous. You can even chill it for a summer's day!

I think of it as more of an evening drink to have by the fire in the winter. But I'm sure it just as good at breakfast.

This recipe is far too sweet. Cloying, even. Besides that, the wonderful spiced apple flavor is tainted with the molasses inherent in brown sugar.

I used this recipe and thought it was very good. My suggestion is that if you like carmeal mix just a drop in when you start out. Also at the end drizzle some or lots on top whatever you prefer for a wonderful sugarful delight!! Enjoy your day!!
