Basic Granola
(8 servings) Printable Version
- 3 cups regular rolled oats
- 1 cup shredded unpeeled apple
- 1/2 cup wheat germ
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup water
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon vanilla or 1/2 teaspoon almond extract
- nonstick cooking spray
Spray a 15x10x1-inch baking pan with nonstick spray coating. Spread oat mixture evenly in pan. Bake in a 325 degrees F oven about 45 minutes or till golden brown, stirring occasionally. Spread onto foil to cool. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator up to 2 weeks.
Cooking Note:
If you'd like to get granola with a few clusters in the mix, mix in 1/2 cup flour with the dry oats. It will help some of the oats to clump together while cooking.
This is a basic granola recipe with apples and cinnamon. It's easy to make and cooks up golden brown and toasty.

It was good, but was just slightly over done. Next time, I think I'd cook for an hour at 275 degrees. I'll let you know if I try it again.

When we make this we dice the apple very small. I don't think I'd like it shredded. Try it our way and I bet you'll like it.

At last... a recipe without oil! I'm looking to refine my own recipe without oil. Now I'll try this one.
