Apricot Kolaches

  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 Tablespoons butter
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon salt
  • 2 packages rapid rise yeast
  • 6 cups flour
  • 1 jar apricot preserves
Scald 2 cups milk, add butter. In mixing bowl, add sugar and salt, pour in milk, cool to lukewarm. Add yeast and gradually add flour. Knead until smooth, cover and let rise until doubled (1 hour).

Roll into 2 inch balls, place 1 inch apart on baking sheet, cover and let rise about 30 minutes. Create hollow in middle of roll and place 1 tbs apricot preserves in middle. Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 350 F.


You can easily modify this recipe by using any kind of fruit preserve, but apricot is always best when it comes to kolache.
