Quick and Easy Apple Dumplings
(8 servings) Printable Version
- 2 medium apples
- 1 8-count package refrigerated crescent roll dough
- ground cinnamon
- 1/3 cup butter
- 3/4 to 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup no pulp orange juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/4 to 1/2 cup pecans - finely chopped
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8-inch square glass baking dish.
Peel, core and quarter apples. Unroll and separate crescent roll dough. Wrap each apple quarter in a crescent roll and place in baking dish.
Combine butter, sugar and orange juice in medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, being careful to not let it boil over. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract. Pour over dumplings. Sprinkle tops with cinnamon and pecans.
Bake 25 to 30 minutes, until crust is golden and apples are fork-tender.
Serve warm, spooning some of the sauce over the dumplings. Great served alone, with cream or vanilla ice cream.
These are so simple to make. Kids can help with wrapping the apples in the dough and spooning the sauce over dumplings. Quick to prepare for breakfast in a snap.

I made this with Gala apples the first time, and Granny smith the second time. We LOVE them! I made a triple batch for the freezer so I will have some on hand!

So quick and easy! My children love this recipe and are begging me to make it again! The only thing I changed was which type of apples I used, which was gala apples. You could also use frozen pie dough instead of crescent rolls. Delicious! Eat up!
