Breakfast On A Stick
(7 servings) Printable Version
- 7 popsicle sticks
- 1 14-ounce package smoked sausage
- 1 cup Bisquick baking mix
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 1/3 cup milk
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla
Prepare a large cookie sheet by spraying with cooking spray.
Cut the sausage into 7 equal pieces. Insert one popsicle stick into each sausage. Set aside.
In a large bowl, mix together the baking mix, sugar, milk, egg and vanilla until well blended.
Roll each sausage piece in the batter until thoroughly coated.
Place on prepared cookie sheet and cook for 10 minutes or until golden brown.
Remove from oven. Allow sticks to cool for 3 or 4 minutes.
Serve with warmed maple syrup for dipping.
The sausage for this recipe should be the cooked heat-and-serve kind that looks like Kielbasa, not the uncooked variety in a roll.

How do I keep batter from running off of the sausage?
Note From Mr Breakfast: One trick is to pat all moisture off of the sausage with a paper towel and then dust the sausage with flour. That should help the batter stick.

This sounds GREAT but I don't use Bisquik. What's the consistency of the batter, please? Pancake or biscuit or something in between, so I can judge when I make the batter from scratch? Thanks!
