This is a small family restaurant in a tiny East Texas town. I understand the owner is an emigrant from South Africa. Even though the restaurant is off the main highway in an area of abandoned businesses, it is very clean and decorated nicely. The food is good and much better than one would expect from a cafe in a town of 300 or so. They also serve lunch and dinner, and their menu is a notch above the usual hamburgers and chicken fried steak (although there is nothing wrong with a good CFS). Much of their clientele comes from retirees who live in subdivisiois on Lake Livingston.
