A day of my own to play and explore, and breakfast is my fave meal. Soon, I looked at MrBreakfast.com for where I should head in La Jolla. Decided on Cody's and did not disappoint. I know I should have tried the grits or the other recommendations, but darn it, I was inthe mood for French Toast...and it did not disappoint: 3 nice thick slices with fabulous sliced strawberries and a terrific, but not overwhelming nut mixture on top (actually, would love a little more of that). I had a Pomegranate Mimosa , too, which was refreshing, but actually too large a drink, and came across more as a flavored wine than a celebratory bubbly Mimosa.
GREAT service, loved the space...but sat indoors because of the cool fog that morning.

When you want to impress out-of-town guests, treat them to breakfast at Cody's. Sit on their outdoor patio with views of the sparkling La Jolla Cove. Then indulge in any of their thoughtfully crafted dishes including chilaquelas con huevos, a spicy mixture of scrambled eggs, tortillas, black beans and queso fresco or any of their omelets (especially the crab, spinach and chive) which are golden on the outside and soft and tender on the inside. If your breakfast doesn't come with it, be sure to order a side of grits.
