Simply the best breakfast you can get, anywhere. Great food, fast service and fair prices. Excellent coffee as well! Best French Toast around. My wife and I drive three hours for Salem, and Red's is a big part of the experience.

Food was very Good! BUT......

The family and i joined some friends there for a Sunday Breakfast.
Took forever to get our order taken.
Took forever to get all our orders served.
Seemed like they were rushing us out so they could have the table as soon as we had finished eating.

I do not recommend this place if you are looking for a leisurely dining experience.

Also, I felt the place was very cramped.

I weigh 270lbs and I'm a BIG eater. Some people believe I have a hollow leg. I ordered the pancakes and the waitress asked if I wanted the standard 3 or just 2. I said jokingly "Do I look like a 2 pancake person." She smirked and said "Ok" in a sarcastic way. When she brought the plate to me, I couldn't see the plate as the pancakes were bigger than the plate and like 1/2 think. I finished 1 and a half and was absolutely stuffed. Best pancakes I ever had. Fast, friendly service and very reasonable prices. Will go back again and again.

I used to go to Red's almost every Sunday after church, but this one time I had to sit at the counter as it was very very busy. Which is usually the case. I had a chance to watch the cooks prepare the meals and I must say they had the worst sanitation habits I have ever seen. They were so bad that I won't even go back. Cooks were dirty, unshaven, and one of them that was cooking eggs kept wiping his nose while cooking, no hats were being worn. Just an over all dirty environment.

Outstanding food served by a friendly staff! The historical setting of Red's along with the character of the restaurant adds to the experience. Food was prepared and served exactly as requested. Can't wait to return!

Always consistent. Outstanding paper thin omelets, enormous pancakes, crispy
bacon, excellent homemade corn beef hash. Fast, attentive service. Great area to
walk around after this great meal. Shopping (Witch stuff) and the Peabody Essex
Museum are among the attractions. We go every Sunday.

The biggest pancakes I've ever seen-- they're as big as the plate, and you get three in a standard order. Fast, friendly service. They've been around over 35 years, and are located in an historic building.
