The Samoa Cookhouse is just across the bridge from Eureka. It was established in 1890 to feed the men who worked in the lumbermill. The concept remains the same. Long tables, and heaping bowls and platters of food. The bread is still made in the cookhouse kitchen. You will never go away hungry here. The food is great and the waitresses are quick to replenish the table with more food as the need arises. As you sit at the long tables you never know who will be sitting next to you. There is a historic logging museum in the back and you can also buy the homemade bread to take home. If you're traveling through Eureka California this a place not to be missed. Just ask a local for directions. Everyone knows where the Samoa Cookhouse is.
