Katy's KreekThis cheerful breakfast-and-lunch cafe is busy, especially on weekend mornings. Breakfast is the way to go here, and it's served until 3p.m. Ten variations of egg Benedict make Katy's Kreek worth the wait, as do the Swedich pancakes and cheese blintzes, both topped with fresh seasonal berries.Katy's Kreek is cozy and komfy with the feel of European pub, or on second thought, maby Katy's functions a lot like a Reykjavik pub. Right down to the children's playroom. www.katyskreek.com

FIRST TIME WE WENT HERE WE WERE PLEASED WITH THE FOOD AND SERVICE--- THIS PAST SUNDAY WE GOT THERE AT A BUSY TIME AND THE FOOD COULDNT HAVE BEEN WORSE---WIFE'S EGGS ORDERED SCRAMBLED SOFT WERE BROWNED-- MY CORNED BEEF HASH HAD POACHED EGGS THAT WERE PRACTICALLY HARD BOILED. VERY DISAPOINTED. WAITRESS LAMELY TRIED TO MAKE AMENDS THO---BUT IT WAS TIME TO GO---
SO WE'VE HAD ONE GOOD AND ONE BAD EXPERIENCE HERE--- WE WILL GIVE ONE MORE TRY!!

Extensive menu, breakfast, lunch, and dinner, with a full bar. Clean, welcoming environment.

I had corned beef hash & eggs. The corned beef hash had too much hash and not nearly enough corned beef. On top of that, it included mushrooms, which doesn't work with this dish. It also had a bit of a lemony taste to it. The poached eggs that came with it were perfect, as were the potatoes and sourdough toast. My wife had one of the eggs benedict dishes (they have several varieties) and found the hollandaise sauce to be too lemony and slightly institutional tasting. She also liked the potatoes. Coffee was OK.

Our service was excellent throughout our meal. As we finished though, we spotted some friends at another table and joined them to finish our coffee. At their table, the service was absent--they didn't come to pick up the payment even though it was clearly ready to be picked up. Neither did they come by to refill coffee.

I'd definitely try it again, but don't expect it to displace my local favorite, the Plaza Cafe in Pleasant Hill.
