The only thing I somewht liked about Cafe Texan is their mashed potatoes and "freedom" fries....everything else was bland and poorly prepared. The service was awful. Seems like this is a restaraunt for regulars...strangers are treated very coldly and the regulars glare at you like you're a disgusting insect.

I worked the counter nearly 30 years, ago. We were friendly back then. The new counter girls are a little blue. I loved working there! It's my fondest memory of attending Sam. Cheer up, girls!

The Cafe Texan is an old-fashioned cafe located across from the court house square. The food and service are good although not outstanding. They have two connected rooms, one for smoking and one for non smoking customers. The smoking area is the better of the two with counter service. This is the place to see all the locals having breakfast. The food is better than the chains over on the Interstate Highway such as Denny's and the atmosphere quaint.
